Quick answer: TikTok does not publish one universal commission percentage that lets you convert every viewer's gift spend directly into creator cash. The often-repeated “TikTok takes 50%” figure is a rough shorthand, not a guaranteed payout formula for every account and country.
Why viewer spend and creator payout do not match
A viewer first buys Coins through a country- and channel-specific offer. The viewer then uses those Coins for Gifts. TikTok separately determines the Diamonds or rewards credited to an eligible creator and the amount available for withdrawal.
Taxes, app-store pricing, bundle discounts, regional rates, TikTok reward rules, and withdrawal requirements can all affect the difference between viewer spend and creator cash.
What a gift's Coin price actually proves
The Coin number in the gift panel proves how many Coins the viewer must use for that gift at that moment. It does not prove a fixed dollar price for every viewer, and it does not prove the creator's final payout.
Our TikTok gift price table tracks Coin prices and shows a viewer-cost range. Creator payout is deliberately kept separate.
How to calculate your effective payout
- Record the Diamonds and available balance shown before the LIVE.
- Record the same values after TikTok finishes processing the LIVE.
- Use the creator dashboard's available cash amount as the payout value.
- Compare that amount with the gift activity only for your own reporting; do not assume the same rate applies to another creator.
Use current TikTok rules
Review TikTok's Virtual Items Policy and the payout information shown in your account. Program availability, limits, and methods can change by region.
